Pressed Wool Felt Products
Pressed wool sheet felt material is the oldest fabric, predating weaving, and knitting material. Pressed wool felt is made from wool fibers that have been mechanically pressed using heat, moisture, and pressure. Through this process, the resulting material is made up of densely interlocked wool fibers.
Monarch Textiles is a custom wool fiber pressed felt supplier, manufacturing a range of pressed wool sheet felt material to meet your needs.
Manufacturing of Pressed Wool Sheet Felt Material
Pressed felt is reliant on the characteristics of wool. Unlike synthetic fibers, wool fibers have barbs on them. In the manufacturing of wool felt, the fibers are carded but also put through a wet process.
Here they are worked together using moisture, pressure (or pressing) and vibration. The barbs cause the fibers to interlock. The density of pressed felt is determined by the amount of processing applied.
Pressed wool felt can also be custom dyed in a wide range of colors for decorative and industrial applications.
